Thank You from JKU!

On November 20th, at the Covina Performing Arts Center, our Company Dancers and students took the stage for our very first showcase, Kismat – A Bollywood Destiny. Complete with five company acts, student performances of classes spanning from Corona to Thousand Oaks, and live performances by singer and Grammy-nominated songwriter, Raja Kumari, we are proud to announce that our showcase was presented to a sold out audience and was a success! Additionally, Mayor of Covina Kevin Stapleton and Mayor Pro Tem of Artesia Ali Sajjad Taj presented Joya Kazi Unlimited with a special commendation for their work in advancing dance education and for their stellar performances.

The success of Kismat – A Bollywood Destiny would not have been possible without the support we have received along the way.

Letter of Thanks from Artistic Director, Joya Kazi:

A heartfelt thank you to all of our students, families, company dancers, staff and volunteers on making Kismat – A Bollywood Destiny such a success! Kismat was our very first production presented by both the professional Company Dancers and Students of Joya Kazi Unlimited. We were thrilled to present our show to a sold out audience and are so grateful for the dedication and support from each and every one of our students and their families.

I’d like to personally thank Amrita & Rishi Nigam for having the belief in me as an artist and instructor from day one and promoting the company and its classes, Harvi Arora for taking on the incredible task of being our Assistant Stage Manager and seamlessly organizing the flow of each act during the show, and parent volunteers Parul Patel, Neha Arya, and Anju Choudhury for stepping up and helping run rehearsals, taking on multiple students’ costume changes, and performing in the show all in one night! Special thanks go to our dance families who have so generously donated to our academy, Sumit & Nidhi Sharma, Anjana Sura, and Lata Rana, and our Sponsors, Splash of Styles by Aarti Lakhanpal, SoCal Injury Lawyers, and Papiha Nandy Broadcasting Company

Lastly, I’d like to give a huge thank you to my family for their love and support, especially my mom, Papiha Nandy. I remember her waking up at 5AM to drive 3 hours roundtrip to make sure that I could go and learn from the very best instructors as a child. I would not be where I am today without the incredible support and dedication she has put towards allowing me to manifest my dreams of a career in dance! Thank you again to all our dance families, we look forward to seeing you in January 2017 for a technique-intensive 9-week Winter Quarter! Happy Holidays!

Best,

Joya Kazi

Artistic Director
