New Year, New Adventures

Joya Kazi Unlimited has been ringing in the new year with new projects, positivity and opportunity. Since our production of Kismat – A Bollywood Destiny, JKU has been seen at Disney, on NBA courts, on TV and in Music Videos!

Creative Director Joya Kazi had the pleasure of performing over 30 shows for thousands of Disney lovers every week during the very first season of "Festival of Holidays" which ran November 10 - January 8. The Disney California Adventure Park showcased a multitude of performances inspired by festivals celebrated around the world. Achinta McDaniel choreographed one of the shows with traditional Indian and Bollywood dance depicting the celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Joya spread the Disney magic through her love of dance as the show's Dance Captain and Featured Dancer.

As a member of the company and academy of Joya Kazi Unlimited, it is incredible to see the multifaceted talent behind Joya Kazi. To watch her during company rehearsals, to teaching classes and now dancing with Disney, she is truly an artist that knows how to connect with any audience watching her. To see her transform into a Disney princess for this role and capture the hearts of all the children watching and dancing alongside her is inspiring to all dancers. Her dedication to the art of Indian classical dance as seen by her Disney performance serves as a foundation for others to learn from. As a performer, it is incredible to see a dance professional with the utmost grace and poise take the stage, any stage, and completely leave an audience spellbound.

Joya’s choreography, popularly referred to as "Kaziography" has been featured twice on NBA Courts since the start of the season. The Sacramento Kings Dancers have been training in Bollywood routines with Joya for the past 4 years and performed "Dhoom Machale" at Bollywood Night this past weekend as they opened for famed musician, Mickey Singh. Singh's manager, Aman Syal, said "They were amazing! Joya always does a great job teaching a professional team, especially dancers who haven't had any experience with the Indian culture". The Detroit Pistons Dancers also rocked customized Bollywood choreography to iconic song, “Chammak Challo”. Pistons Entertainment Director, Natalie Miramont, says "This choreography was so fun to do. It wasn't easy learning and having to move the way Joya does, but the girls absolutely love doing this routine! Definitely a challenge, but worth every minute!"

The Company Dancers also had the opportunity to work alongside Artist and Producer, Nick Cannon, for two projects. Complete with intricate Bollywood choreography by Joya Kazi, and elaborate, colorful costumes, our company dancers are featured in a commercial and music video produced by Nick Cannon's production company, 'Ncredible Entertainment. The first project included dancing on a moving city bus for the currently playing National Radio Shack Commercial of Nick Cannon's exclusive "'NCredible Flips" Headphones. The second was for the music video of "Hold On" by Nick Cannon ft. rising singing sensation, Sahyba. Check out the commercial below!

Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Sahyba in our next Blog and buckle up for even more exciting new on our upcoming projects! Until then, our Winter Quarter Classes begin Friday, January 13-19. Check for your location-based class dates online at JOYAKAZI.COM/schedules-registration.
